Rugged Maniac
Sent from my iPadTony invited me to compete in an obstacle race at Boone Hall Plantation. They created 25 obstacles from simple hills to sliding down pipes into mud holes. Super fun and I have plenty to learn about staying a little cleaner. I am getting Kathryn out there next year.

Irish Night
Here’s our dessert for the evening: Guinness Cake with Bailey’s Irish Cream. A great way to end the day to wear green.

More of NC with the fam
More pics from my weekend visit with my family. I always have so much with all of them. Sunday we all visiting my sister’s new church and loved it! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming to us. Afterwards to brunch we went. My family, like Beau and I, are food snobs to some degree. Although we had a good time we were all a little disappointed by the fake eggs, the frozen biscuit and premade waffle batter. But loved every moment of it. By the end of the trip my nephew had started calling me “Tata” instead of Aunt Kathryn. I guess the latter is a little too much to expect out of an almost two year-old.
Continuing California
I stopped mid-story with California and didn’t plan doing that, therefore, I’m picking that back up today. We have to share about our fun times!
Beau and I spent our last full day in San Diego going to Balboa Park. This is actually a ton of acres (how many I don’t know) full of the San Diego zoo, museums, baseball parks and plenty of trails. Beau and I went to the Museum of Man for a few hours. Really interesting! There were exhibits on the start of beer and how it was used many, many years ago, an exhibit with mummies and a large exhibit all about torture throughout the centuries. The torture one was definitely disturbing and one that I felt needed to close with an episode of Sesame Street or something, just to get your mind back to thinking about happy things.
We also went in search for round 2 of authentic tacos. We found some at Roberto’s #13. Although these were not as good as Karina’s from the day before, they were better than tacos I get on the east coast for sure!
Sunday we headed back to the east coast stating that this was one of our best anniversaries yet (it’s only our 3rd). J

3rd year
Well...this is the end of it! Our beloved and delicious wedding cake. Yes. That's right. We saved our wedding cake three years after eating it for the first time on that wonderful day. And don't think we waited three years to eat it. We didn't. We have pulled it out every year on our anniversary and had some. And tonight we finished it. And to be completely honest it was just as good. It was still moist and flavorful and didn't taste at all like the freezer. Way to go Aunt Beverly for making a most delicious cake!

The Girls
I drove up to NC this past weekend to spend a weekend with my family, mainly mom, Jenn and Riley. We planned a slumber party for Friday night. That didn’t last long. None of us are late night people and needlesstosay, the party ended around 10:00. But we were fine with that. We had a great evening up until that point. There was Mexican food, cupcakes and lots of laughing and talking. We loved it!
The whole weekend was a blast with Co-op shopping, seeing friends, Thai food, naps, and Les Miserables at the local theater. Super time.
3 Years of Bliss
This time three years ago I was on my way to Poogan’s Porch to have brunch with my bridesmaids, Donna and my mother. It was the start to a crisp, sunny March day where I said “I do” to the man of my dreams.
Today marks three years of wonderful marriage with the man that makes my heart melt when I come home from work and he and Argos are waiting on the porch for me. I could not have imagined three years ago that I would be as happy as I am today.
I love my life with this man. So thankful God brought the two of us together.

Fwd: Yummy eating in San Diego
I know I’ve already touched on the tacos. I had to! They were at the forefront of my mind. And they still are. I think I dreamed about them last night. I know I’ve told at least 10 people about them. They’re probably tired of hearing how great they were, especially since they weren’t able to partake.
Anyway, there was some other good eatin’ that took place on this trip.
Our first night together we ventured to a place that I had read about and had received rave reviews, although I’m not sure why. The drinks were $15 a pop and were very ho hum. I didn’t even drink half of mine. We left. That place was called JSix. Don’t try it.
Next stop, The Blind Burro. This was supposed to be really good modern Mexican food. Everyone knows how this girl loves some Mexican food! We were disappointed. I believe that you can tell a Mexican restaurant by three things right off the bat: 1. The queso 2. The chips 3. The margarita. All of these were no good. No Bueno. Chips were literally greasy to the touch, although homemade. Queso was similar to a paste of sorts, which I’ve never encountered before. Margarita was bland, if you can imagine that. We left.
Next stop: La Puerta. We should have gone here first. The wait for a table was over an hour, which is always a good sign. We sat at the bar and loved it! The drinks were fantastic and Beau and I split this delicious plate of Carne Asada Fries. Definitely no where close to a balanced meal. But hey, you only live one. They were fantastic!
Saturday night we followed through on my reservation for Searsucker. (We’re into the whole Open Table thing.) And really, we were quite pleased. Drinks were great and apps were very good. We made it to the table still hungry (after two apps) and ordered steaks and bowl of Brussels sprouts to share (I think this was my first portion of vegetables in a couple days). The restaurant even went the extra mile to give us dessert on the house!
