The Crawdog in Chucktown

John and April left the boys in Hartsville and came to Charleston for a night. We had a great time touring around, shooting the breeze, and eating well. I love that their kids still call me Uncle Boat.

Fishing with Michael and Muffy

I went down to Edisto and fished with these guys recently. We killed the brim and blue gill and even a couple large mouth. The other gentleman is Muffy's Dad.

Old pics hope I never lose

We rented a beach house on Folly a few years after graduating college and here is the evidence. Thanks for sending these Kathy.

Joe was an awesome person that Im thankful to have known.  Only non family man I've ever kissed on the lips but I'm going to blame the alcohol.

May 23rd

Out of order already.

Theron and Jeanette came to town over the longer weekend and shared some awesome news. They have been trying to get preggers with no success and with the help of modern medicine they had 3 inside her this weekend. Since then they have gone to 2 but they are back with just a regular OB so it seems all is stable. Hoping and praying for the very best for them.

It was Spoleto so we took in some jazz and great food. I would also point out that I executed the Texas Crutch on a pork shoulder and felt great about it. Eat your heart out Martino.

June 14

Joe and Michael came to town to do some fishing over the weekend. We left out of Towlers and didn't have much success but the trip was great. Joan also came to town so we had a great time catching up.

June 12 FGL concert on the water

So these next few posts will be me catching up for the pas few months. It will say Kathryn wrote them but it is all Beau. You will know because of bad grammar, poor spelling, and little mention of food.

Scott, my buddy from the SCV, gave me a ride to the Ashley River out side of The Joe to listen to the Florida Georgia Line concert. We couldn't hear much but all the drunk boats around us provided a great show. My neighbors, Clint and Steve, joined us on Steve's boat.

Reminder to Rest

"Every person needs to take one day away.  A day in which one consciously separates the past from the future.  Jobs, family, employers, and friends can exist one day without any one of us, and if our egos permit us to confess, they could exist eternally in our absence.  Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for.  Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us."   Maya Angelou

I'm thankful for these reminders. Beau and I need them. We are "do" people. We make things happen. And it's hard for us to sit still, often times feeling like life is passing us by and we're wasting it. But is that really true? Isn't life sometimes supposed to be about rest and relaxation and enjoying the moment you're in?

We always joke with others that when you finish doing a job around the house, there lies another one and eventually you just come full-circle again. It's a never-ending cycle of "improvements". So lets be honest, why be so quick to get it all done?

Beau and I tried yoga together the other day. The last "pose" is the "resting pose". It involves laying on your back with your arms down by your side, palms up. It's wonderful. No really. Try it. It will change your life.

When I asked Beau what he was doing this morning while I was getting ready he said "yoga". He was very involved in the "resting pose". :) I think he gets it...
