Memorial Weekend

My parents came into town to spend Memorial Day Weekend with me and Beau. We had a great time, walking through the park, grilling out, celebrating Mother’s and Father’s Day at Carolina’s downtown for brunch, going to the pool and doing home project. We wish we had taken more pictures. But we were just so busy! We had a great time and made some really good memories!

1st Date Recreation

Beau and I recreate our first date each year with dinner and a Spoleto event at the Cistern at the College of Charleston. Tonight we started our evening off at Squeeze, a new bar that opened on East Bay St. We then walked to Leaf, on Beaufain. (Beau saw Bobby Crimmins and talked to.him and about wet his pants he was so excited!) We are now at the Cistern after a little stop for some frozen yogurt! :) Love our 1st recreations!

Ice Cream Truck

The ice cream truck went through our neighborhood yesterday afternoon. I heard the song and I got excited! I immediately remembered the ice cream truck as a child and how excited I would get at the sound of it. Quick! Where’s mom? Mom, I need a quarter! Where’s a quarter? We would frantically search for some change (we had to find three quarters because there was no way just Kathryn was getting ice cream!) and would run after the truck. Out of breath upon arrival we screamed our request! I always got the cone shaped strawberry push pop with the gumball at the bottom. It came with a spoon that I meticulously used until it got to the point that I could tip it back and suck out the rest.

Oh how happy I was yesterday to know that the ice cream truck still comes around. I hope that it’s still around when my children can run after it with some change.

So today’s lesson? Lets never be too proud to be excited in the small things.

Gamecock Baseball

This weekend the Gamecocks are playing an important series against LSU. I went to the first game of a double header Friday and this picture is taken in front of our two National Championship trophies. If we win Saturday, we clinch the SEC championship.

N:MOTION

I have recently discovered a spinning place in Mt. Pleasant that I wanted to share with my fellow Mt. Pleasant neighbors. Beau and I frequent the Chinese place next door and while there a couple of weeks ago, I picked up their flyer. The place is called N:MOTION. It’s a Christian-based spinning place for women only.

I went this morning for the first time. I loved it! 30 minutes of intense spinning, 15 minutes of weight lifting/abdominals and 15 minutes of cool down/stretching. It’s a very encouraging place and one I’ll return to. Check out their website here and hopefully I’ll see you there some morning. (I go at 5:30 am!)

Laugh with Me

Because I laughed out loud and everyone needs a good laugh!

Julia, I thought you would appreciate that one! ;)

The Permullet!

Yums

The Nutella brownies I made and brought to work are almost gone!

Rosa and Me

Me and Rosa are good friends. You know why? Because she’ll eat the dry half of my orange slices and I will eat the juicy half.  J Few would do that for a friend.

Our weekend

As you saw in a previous post with Beau and Argos, we had a relaxing weekend. It was one of those weekends that we were waiting and waiting for and when it got here we were a little dumbfounded as to what to do with it.

We did lots of grilling and took Meme strawberry picking. We did lots of much needed cleaning and organizing. And Saturday we celebrated Mother’s Day with Donna with grilled Ribeye, roasted fingerling potatoes and grilled squash. There was even some homemade strawberry ice thanks to the picking we did earlier in the day!

Hoping for another relaxing weekend coming soon!

Here’s to our mothers!

Karen Moran Kimbrell and Donna Bryant Evans-ya’ll are two wonderful women that Beau and I are blessed to have in our life! We love you!

30

So! I turned the big 30 yesterday. Great day! My husband did a super job of making me feel special. Just the comment that he wanted us to do whatever would make me happy totally did it for me.

But it was made special…

Beau got me a silver charm for my charm bracelet. A pair of dice to represent our upcoming trip (tomorrow) to Las Vegas. A story, or many stories, will come with that charm for sure! He knew that I would love that gift and I do.

My boss got me a quart of chocolate frozen yogurt from YOBE!!!!!!! We all know how much I liked that!

My friend Rosa made me a bottle of homemade bloody mary mix. And yes, we all know how much I like that!

My MIL, Donna, got me some great costume jewelry to take with me to Vegas (I’m always coveting her costume jewelry).

Julia got me an edible arrangement that I’ll eat next week!

And my dear sweet husband is making this monumental birthday the biggest ever by taking me to Las Vegas for four days! I’ve never been and I’m super excited. I wanted to go to some place BIG and memorable and boy will it be that!

We’re going to Cirque de Soleil, Charlie Palmer’s Steakhouse at the Four Seasons, Picasso at the Bellagio, House of Blues and In and Out Burger (for the boys). And we’re staying at the Monte Carlo, which I affectionately called Monte Cristo by accident on Saturday. J

We’ll be sitting by a pool during the day, soaking up some sun and relaxing, and then enjoying the night life later one. What a great weekend! And we’ll be enjoying this weekend with our friends, Trent and Nicole Walker. (Nicole and I share May 1 as our birthday! )

So here’s to Wednesday being my Friday for this week, an exciting flight west, trying new things, staying up late, sleeping in late, eating our heart out and lots of fun! Memories will be made. And pictures will follow!

740. That there are food holidays such as today, which is National Pretzel Day. Makes planning meals a little more fun! And on May 1 (my birthday), it’s National Chocolate Parfait Day. I think this is appropriate that it be a dessert. J
